How Trauma Affects Nutrition?

Trauma affects nutrition through either eating too much or too little, or not at all for that matter.

Your nerves are shot as a result of trauma, which is understandable. 

Trauma can also be a link to eating disorders.

It can cause Anorexia Nervosa which is a life threatening eating disorder. In which you potentially starve yourself.

Anorexia Nervosa can cause depression, heart conditions, may even increase the risk of suicide, and stomach problems. 

Bulimia Nervosa is defined as binging you may eat anything you choose to and then make yourself through.

The complications of Bulimia can be deadly.

It could cause dental problems, increase risk of suicide, infertility , and stomach complications. It could lead to heart complications. You could potentially choke on your vomit.

There is also an eating disorder called binge eating disorder  which can be referred to as bed. It's also a serious disorder which can lead to inappropriate weight control behaviors.

This disorder may lead to high blood pressure, weight gain or obesity. As well as heart disease , and potentially diabetes.. 

Avoidant / Restrictive food intake disorder results in significant decrease in weight loss.

It may cause emotional difficulties and be associated with anorexia Nervosa.

Not eating properly can also decrease your energy levels which may make you feel tired day in and day out.

It can also impact your sleep.

 Your stomach may be hungry and you may find that you have a difficult time sleeping.

Food gives us energy.

Make sure you are drinking plenty of water.
